LISTENING AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE SERVICES

Partnering with Families and Support Team

When babies and children are diagnosed with hearing loss, it is important for them to have exposure all day and every day to rich language content, vocabulary and grammatical structures. With the use of current hearing technology, sound is able to go directly to the brain, which is “pre-wired” for learning to listen and speak. Our Listening and Spoken Language Specialists (LSLS) partner with parents and the support team (audiologist, early interventionists, teacher…) to help your child’s brain grow through optimal access to sound using hearing aid and cochlear implants. The LSL early intervention professional uses a developmental approach and will guide you through specific strategies to use daily to help make the best use of the hearing technology to teach your child to learn through listening and talking.
